Default Mr Minit / Simpsons for shoe repairs?

Is there anything like Mr Minit or Simpsons (both UK) where I can just go and get some shoes resoled for example?

There an excellent shoe repairer in Morristown...but I suppose that's a little too far to go to get your shoes repaired.

Quite a few dry cleaners in this area will send shoes off to be repaired.

Where are you located?

I've never seen any similar place in New Jersey, although there is an (expensive) shoe repair shop in our town but they don't do it while you wait (neither do they cut keys). I used to see shoe polish guys in NY Penn Station but only see them from time to time in the subway station at Times Square. They don't do repairs AFAIK.

They have quite a few of them (Mr. Minit stalls in shopping centres) in Singapore though and Australia though!

With the recession I think it would be a bit of a goldmine in the US, for instance I heard on the radio today that people are keeping their cars far longer than in the past and the average age of cars is now 11 years old.

I wonder if there is a franchise for Mr Minit or Simpsons or similar? It could be a great business opportunity I should think and I guess the start-up costs for the machinery and products such as heels can't be that high?

Most shoe repair stores are operated by independent contractors, look in any phone book under " Shoe repair " and you will more then likely see where the closest one is in your community, Google will also do the same along with some customer generated reviews.

They're everywhere around here where I am, usually either attached to the back of a tailors or a key cutting place in a hardware store.

No big chains to speak of though.
