Default Moving to the USA - Help/Advice

Hi,
I am really hoping to move to America in a few years time as this has always been a real dream of mine.
As of now, I am only 18 so I have some time to plan/save.
However, as I have been looking into moving more and more, it seems I will have a real problem with getting a visa.
I am not at university (as personally, I don't see the point), and I have no sufficent experience, other than 3 years as a lifeguard!
Obviously, in 5+ years I will hopefully be settled in a job and I am a sensible saver so money shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Is the only way for me to make this happen by getting a job out in the US and have them sponser me? This seems to be the only conclusion I have come too. If this is my only solution, any advice on what jobs are best suited for a sponsered visa?

Thank you, I know I have lots and lots of time but I want to plan early!

I think you've just discovered the point of going to university.

Take a read through this.

Without a university education you are going to find it very difficult to move to the US.

I'm guessing you're starting to see the point of a university education, now?

You have some options, off the top of my head I can think of:

1. Get your university education in the UK and hope that by the time you're done, the US job market is better;
2. Get a student visa to the USA and get your university education here in the USA - that way you'll be able to network here in the USA and sort of have your foot in the door already;
3. Get a job in the UK with an international firm who has offices in the USA and after 1 year of working there (with the right job title and qualifications), then ask for a transfer to the US office;
4. If, in 5 years, money is not an issue, look into the investor's visa.

Indeed... no company in the US is going to sponsor anyone without the bare minimum of an undergraduate degree these days unless that person has a very, very, very specific skill.

There are 15 million people out of work in the US right now, many of who have a degree or specific training in a trade, and all of who will be far cheaper and easier to employ than a foreigner.

So you either have to "skill" your way in, "educate" your way in or buy your way in (and that'll take far more dough than anyone other than a lottery winner can save in five years).

Or you could join an online dating agency and 'marry' your way in

Of course though, OP, you'd marry an American purely because you're in love right?????

Sorry... game over.

No, that's not the only way - but with no university education and a (largely) non-existent skill set - well... your choices are severely limited.

Well I'd say the super strict requirements to move here should give the OP plenty of motivation for taking up university studies

If you like super strict, it's probably best to join a club with like-minded adults rather than let it fester.
