There's only an International Driving Permit (that goes along with your licence), not an International Drivers License.

We used to live in AZ and I thought the driving was bad there until we moved to Jersey

also be warned - when i applied for an international driving licence in the uk last autumn it took over 6 weeks to appear so do it in plenty of time.

i just mentioned the delay as he mentioned it in the op. I got one just in case it made it easier to hire a car or something but didnt use it at all.

I just wondered why a UKC who's got a US or UK license would need an International license to drive in the UK.

worth getting if your UK license is the old paper one without the photo...otherwise, waste of time

Fine for other countries but the reason I asked was because MsElui got one when she went to the UK.

IIRC, you can get the International Driver's Permit on the spot from the Post Office at Trafalgar Sq in London or the AA office at Dover Port (if you happen to be near there already).

Poster said she got it in the UK, not for the UK. Still not necessarily that useful but it's only a fiver or so.
