Default Moving to the US... Help!

Please help!! I'm going to be moving to the US from Canada next month and
all the logistics involved are starting to make me crazy!!

This is my latest plan:

Ship my personal belongings into the US on the Greyhound bus & fly myself to
the US.

What kind of paper work do I need to make sure that I don't get stuck paying
duty or taxes on my personal belongings? No one at the bus depot has any
clue and I don't know who to ask!! I'm not bringing that much stuff...
maybe 5 - 6 moving boxes full. All of my furniture etc. is staying in
Canada for now and I'll come back for it in a few months.

My other option was to buy a cheap van while I'm still in Canada and import
it along with my stuff when I drive down... but with everything I'm reading
about importing vehicles, that sounds like another nightmare.

Any help you guys could provide would be appreciated!!

You can ship your boxes with Canada Post (air) or Greyhound (land) as your
personal belongings.

You write down on custom declaration form as such.

Will I need to pay duty/taxes on the items when they arrive? Do I need to
attach a form 3299 also?

Thanks for your help!

I don't believe that you have to pay anything tax or duty at all. Make sure
your list (ie: used clothing, sundry) and enter total value (C$xx.xx) of
your belongings.

Clerk from Canada Post or Greyhound would ask you to fill these export forms
and attach to the boxes.

The same way from US to Canada.
