Moving Relatives To The US
My husband is in the process of becoming a Citizen, we plan on sponsoring his mother and father who presently live in the UK. The process seems pretty straight forward BUT he has a sister (she is 22) who is unmarried and lives with his parents, she is dependent upon them for support. My husbands father was told by an "immigration lawyer" that there are ways of getting her to the US without having to file a petition for a sibling which takes years and years. Has anyone heard of this or have any suggestion? We are really at a loss with this one.

Being a citizen, he can apply to bring siblings over, but they don't take priority, and by sound of things, would take years, 5-12 years I read on the forum...

Ask the lawyer to clarify and post here what he says.
MY wife and I are citizens and she wants to bring her sister over from the UK. We have been told on numerous occasions by some very qualified people that the timeframe is now aprrox 15 years... Someone recently posted their success at this by filing in 1992 so 13 years from THEN !!!
So sorry, if his sister is relying on "physical" support from the parents then it looks like none of what you want to do can be done.

What if she were to come in on a student visa and go to school for the next (5) years until his parents became citizens, so they could sponser her?

She can marry a nice American boy or she can come on a work visa (H, L, etc)
if she qualifies.

That could work, yeah. But you never know what the wait for children over 21 will be like in 5 years. It's likely to go up...
