Re: Military Exchange
I know the thread is about NC but the poster referenced "the projects" which are not unique to NC. So my reply was related to the projects.

Re: Military Exchange
Why have I muddied the water? That's was not the intention, I love NC.
When i'm told to stay out of a dodgy area I don't really start questioning why, I just take note. Nothing wrong with passing the information along, then people can make their own judgment can't they?

Re: Military Exchange
Fair comment, but telling people to "stay away from the projects" isn't very helpful when (i) there are very few places in NC known as "the projects" and (ii) just about every major city in the world, and most smaller cities, have areas that are "best to avoid" if you don't know where you're going and what you're doing there, especially during the hours of darkness. That is as true of Lewisham, Whitechapel, Toxteth, Moss Side, and the Gorbels, in the UK as it is of cities across America, and I strongly suspect that the OP, as a professional soldier, is very cognizant of the risks in the urban environment. But all of this has very little to do with advising him on what to expect when he relocates his family here, except to say that cities in NC have some "iffy areas". Yeah, and .... ?

Hi USMC
One on the first things that will happen when you arrive, is you will be briefed about NOT letting on in forums and facebook about what you do and why your in the US.
Or so I've heard
I don't know what most people do on here for a job, so its still easy to be part of the forum without to much detail.
