Default Low Cost Travel Europa-USA

Does anybody know the cheaper solutions for the travel between USA and Europe than these:

Amsterdam-Miami by MartinAir
www.martinair.com

Dusseldorf-Miami or Dusseldorf-Los Angeles by LTU
www.ltu.de

London-New York by Air India

London-Los Angeles by New Zealand Air

London-Toronto by Zoom
www.flyzoom.com

Future low cost airline: RivieraJet
www.rivierajet.com

I assume that many forum participants look for the cheap transport between Europe and USA and that the exchange of info would be very usefulf for everybody.

Blimey!

I looked at that website for Rivierajet and Sir Freddie Laker is involved in it.

I wonder if it will really get off the ground?

When I lived in England I knew friends many years ago who would fly to the States with the Dutch airline KLM via Amsterdam as it was cheaper than flying directly from the UK, although it can be inconvenient with the flight connections. If you do a search with some airline ticket agencies online they often bring up these routes first if you ask for the cheapest available tickets.

I know that quite a few Brits living in the States fly with Icelandair to Scotland and London and have a few days to stopover in Reykjavik.

My mother once flew over on a cheap ticket with Aer Lingus (Birmingham UK to Newark, NJ - clearing US immigration at Shannon) and thought that the flight attendants were lovely and made great cups of tea! Aer Lingus now only flies to JFK on the East Coast, but I think also Chicago and LA.

British Midland airlines also flies into the US - I'm pretty sure that they depart from London-Chicago but their main hub is at the East Midlands airport near Leicester.

Some British holiday companies (eg. Airtours, Thomson, Thomas Cook I think) have charter flights going from different airports in the UK to Orlando (Sanford airport) Florida. I don't know how easy it is to book from Orlando-UK return.

The only 'bucket shop/consolidator' I've heard of in the US which specialises in cheap flights to the UK and Ireland is this one based in NYC:

fares depend on the season. check various airline.travel sites for promotions. as it is i think trans-atlantic fares are very competitive especially during the low seasons.

fares are cheaper for flights originating from the US. now that summer is about to starts, the seats are filling up and the fares are rising to. the next round of sales should be in the fall/winter.

For the most up-to-date and comprehensive info, I always stop by the Cheap Flights forum on www.eurotrip.com
Couple of folk who can help you with specific tips over there as they keep up to date with many, many, many options. Do read their FAQ first and have an itinerary and the best price you've already found. Be nice, too. They're all volunteers/hobbiests.
