Default Life Insurance in USA

Hey guys

Has anybody been asked to pay an additional premium for being a Green Card holder rather than a USC when buying term life insurance in the USA.

Thanks

My PR husband was not asked to pay additional premium, but a lot of places wouldn't cover him because he's from Iran, and he planned to travel back there to visit family and for work purposes. They considered it a "war zone" and wouldn't cover him if he traveled there.

We still haven't gotten life insurance for him, although he became a USC last year. I don't know if that will make a difference for him or not, he still plans to travel to Iran at some point, so I have to call around again and see they will insure him if he travels there now that he's a USC.

No, no extra premium for us either. Weird.

They are also asking where I travel and for how long each time. Apparently Europe and Hong Kong are OK though.

It is very strange about the additional premium for being GC holder v USC.....

Is it only this one company telling you that? Or did you get a few different quotes from different companies, all with a higher premium for GC holder vs USC?

Shop around.

According to my broker this is the case with 4-5 different companies he represents.

I think it is time to check out another broker as it really doesn't any make sense.

Find a new broker, get second opinion, etc.
