Since I married my Canadian honey 15 years ago, we have always used an electric tea kettle.
We are currently using this one and we love it.

Has anyone found a stove top kettle with a whistler on it to let you know when the water is boiling?
I was actually looking for one to go camping but couldn't find one anywhere

I never bothered with an electric kettle, the stovetop one does me nicely.

If I had a gas hob I'd get one too, but unfortunately we live in an otherwise perfectly acceptable flat where they replaced all the gas appliances with electric ones seven years ago.

That's a pain in the arse. One thing I realised pretty quickly here having grown up with electric stoves all my life, is how much better gas is for cooking with. In my estimation, anyway.

Well it seems I didn't look hard enough there seems to be plenty of whistling options around.
I love the Irish Kelly kettle but unfortunately when I go camping in Arizona there is almost a ban on open fires so I have to use my coleman propane stove and plane kettle which doesn't whistle. But my sons seem quite happy sitting by the kettle waiting for the water to start to bubble and the start whistling to let me know.

After my third $100 electric kettle died I gave up and went back to a good old fashioned stove top whistling kettle. The puny electrikery over here means that most electric kettles take forever to boil anyways.

Yeah, the fact that they take forever to boil is the actual reason I prefer electric kettles over here... it's much easier to forget a pan or kettle on the stove burner, and the kettle turns itself off while you're busy making toast or whatever. Water boils at the same temperature whether you are on 110 or 220 volt.

They're everywhere....and they're shittly slow...can't imagine how bad it would be for camping...

Our Bodum kettle has an auto shut off which is great but it can't be shut off manually so if you press it by accident when you fill it you get hot water like it or not. Also when it comes to the boil it boils for what is probably only ten seconds before auto shut off but impatient hubby gets annoyed as he wants to pour as soon as boil stage has been achieved

Ikea and it was pretty cheap many moons ago, like $5. We take it camping with us and it's pretty battered and beat up, but who cares for $5?
