I have heard from my Congressman's office. In the letter that consulate sent to the congressman's office it says "They need a copy of my passport pages".
on the 221 g slip that my fiance received they didn't mention for any extra documents. In fact my fiance had already submitted a copy of my passport along with the other documents when he went for the interview.
When there is a congressional intervention...i Wonder ...may be consulates find one reason or the other to back up what they are doing.

Hi , I am new to this group but in same situation ... I am on a h1B with a valid visa
till 2003 oct. Me and my wife went for the interview on 15th July 02. In the
interview we were asked questions
Q: how did we meet? We were neighbors in Bangalore
R: (For Namgyal) What does your father do? ( He is Dead )
S: (For Namgyal) What does your mother do? ( She is a farmer )
T: What religion are u now, what are you'll following.
U: She is a Buddhist and I am Hindu. We are now trying to learn more about each
others religion and practicing both.
V: Did you'll go for a Honeymoon?
W: No! not yet because of lack of leave and not being together.( Dumbass !!)
X: Are you'll planning to have kids ?
Y: Yes! After sometime.

They asked for our before marriage greeting cards and e-mail which I showed them.

During this visit we got married again the Tibetan way and showed them even those
photographs. They asked us which is the legally binding marriage and we said it was
the Hindu marriage.

After a couple of hours of waiting they gave a letter stating 221(g) that our case
needs more Administrative processing and we would need to wait and their office will
contact us. I asked Them for how long for which they said 1-2 months. They still
retained the marriage certificate And some marriage photos of Hindu marriage.

They returned back rest of the documents. So she is still over there and I returned
back as I had already extended my leave by 5 days.

They retained our marriage certificate for 5 months and did not get back to us before
when she went alone for the interview, now when we went together They say
Administrative processing. I don't know what they are up to. Natraj

For us they gave 221g and told us that our case was under administrative processing. Then they have called my fiance back in a week asking him to come to consulate with the required documents. for the second visit they issued him the visa without any hassels.
Mean while I had contacted my congressman's office and they have helped me a lot by putting an enquiry and getting back to me with some kind of answer atleast.

wife applying for?

H1 dependent visa ---- H4 visa
