yes.
and i was aware as soon as i came onto this thread that any comments could be constued as racism... I honestly don't have anything for/against indian people, or having centres set up in india. I don't mind dealing with someone with an indian accent or anything like that. What i mind is getting a bad line (delta- every time), so that we can't understand each other, and being asked 200 times if i want to rent a car when I ask a question that isn't on the script.
I didn't actually think about the indian call center thing until i came on this thread; the penny just dropped. I was already pissed off about it and sent an email of complaint to delta long before i knew...it's just bad customer service...

I found them OK, but only had one query.

The USCIS helpline has a bit of a reputation mind you.

I think maybe it would help if people could take their frustrations out on the "suit" who got a mega-bucks bonus for "saving" his company cash by outsourcing their customer services department then got a large back-hander from the indian call center firm to set up shop with them.

Big companies treat customers with contempt - its time to fight back.

I called then once - woman sounded extremely p*ssed off, but i got what I wanted.
The US embassy visa hotline in the UK (based in Glasgow I think) was also good, but for £1.50 a minute I was disappointed that they didn't talk dirty to me as well.

Call two people on the same day and you'll get two different answers to the same question I guess what it means is that they are neither tax nor immigration experts. Hardly surprising. I'm guessing the same applies to the people who call you from the said banks. Annoying? Yes, very.

Exactly. Like some one said, credit card protection is a load of bull anyway.

Funnily enough I had 2 identicle scam calls from what seemed to be India last night, I think it was an attempted identity theft.
The caller asked to speak with me, you could tell it was India by the heavy accent, poor English and bad quality phone line and delay.
He claimed he was in Topanga Cyn. CA and claimed to have an Anglo name like Arthur Brown in his heavy accent, he said I had been approved for a $500 shopping spree and just needed a $4.95 processing fee to send my package. Asked for a check number so he could no doubt get my bank details to drain the account.
I played along for a while since it was his phone bill, asked him how the weather was ( since Topanga is 10 miles away from where I live). I was then transferred to a supervisor to complete the transaction with my bank account/checking number.
After toying with him for a few minuters I told him to fu ck right off................... I heard a click as he hung up immediately

I think Nigeria do all their solicitation by e-mail. These Indian guys wanted to close the deal in a single telephone call by getting your bank info on the call. Much more efficient for the scam artist about town. I can give them your number if you are interested in a $500 shopping spree?

Tell them you will pay the processing fee out of the $500?

Well it doesn't matter really, as long as the quality of service is maintained, companies have to get good value for money and health insurance in this country is crippling...people have to move with the times don't they.

... and from their perspective ... their views on how some Westerners treat them ... “Abuse rattles Indian call centre staff”

... sorry in advance if this BBC article has already been cited in this thread ...
