Is it me or have all banks/credit card companies and other call centres relocated to India in the last 2 months?
It seems to be every time i phone or get called recently. Now i dont mind when you call them but i am getting sales calls now!!
I am not being racist and have nothing against these call centres in principle but they are very hard to understand and very scripted - to the extent that if you ask a question they answer with 'excellent question' and start at the beginning of their script again!!
I was very badly mis-sold payment protection on my chase card last week (or would have been if i'd said yes) I am waiting for their response to my complaint!!

I ran into a similar problem when I got my Chase card, it took a few minutes of saying "no" to get him off the phone.

You're liable for the first $50 of loss. Same as you are here. And most issuers won't even pursue that.

Payment protection is indeed utter crap as it is on all loans - big earner for everyone except the punter!!!
Doesnt help that they dont understand what they are selling though.....

There were a few companies (think abbey national was one) that got so many complaints they started to bringing the call centres back to the UK.
I phoned BT up to cancel my phone line.. guy was as polite as anything but I really couldn't understand a word he was saying - just got embarrassing to keep saying "pardon?"

I have stopped buying from a nationwide electronics / computer store because of this. Why the heck must I spend my time trying to make myself understood and I don't even have a yank accent?

I thought it was worse in the UK.
I forget now what they were trying to sell me, but an Indian call warehouse with a Canadian Insurer, I pointed out that there product was irrelevant to the UK.
Amuses me most is the use of english names to introduce themselves, something out of Goodness Gracious Me.
