Default Indian Call Centres

Is it me or have all banks/credit card companies and other call centres relocated to India in the last 2 months?

It seems to be every time i phone or get called recently. Now i dont mind when you call them but i am getting sales calls now!!

I am not being racist and have nothing against these call centres in principle but they are very hard to understand and very scripted - to the extent that if you ask a question they answer with 'excellent question' and start at the beginning of their script again!!

I was very badly mis-sold payment protection on my chase card last week (or would have been if i'd said yes) I am waiting for their response to my complaint!!

I haven't called them recently but I think WM still has a US call centre.

I ran into a similar problem when I got my Chase card, it took a few minutes of saying "no" to get him off the phone.

They are told they have to sell so many of these a day or their "career" will be realigned. They will be hassled to death about it at every meeting they attend. Empathy with their predicament can easily produce the result you want rather than the result their masters want. I find most of them don't give a sh!t either way. And payment protection on a credit card is utter crap and nobody wants that.

I find that if you threaten to shoot them in the face that they soon buck up their ideas, regardless of where the call center is situated.

You're liable for the first $50 of loss. Same as you are here. And most issuers won't even pursue that.

Payment protection is indeed utter crap as it is on all loans - big earner for everyone except the punter!!!

Doesnt help that they dont understand what they are selling though.....

There were a few companies (think abbey national was one) that got so many complaints they started to bringing the call centres back to the UK.

I phoned BT up to cancel my phone line.. guy was as polite as anything but I really couldn't understand a word he was saying - just got embarrassing to keep saying "pardon?"

I have stopped buying from a nationwide electronics / computer store because of this. Why the heck must I spend my time trying to make myself understood and I don't even have a yank accent?

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Indian Call Centres

I thought it was worse in the UK.

I forget now what they were trying to sell me, but an Indian call warehouse with a Canadian Insurer, I pointed out that there product was irrelevant to the UK.

Amuses me most is the use of english names to introduce themselves, something out of Goodness Gracious Me.
