I like it. In fact I like most fruit and veg that other people hate.

No, you are not alone -- I love okra!

Also love whole cauliflower, cored and smothered in yogurt and Indian spices, cooked on the grill, as well as small florets of raw cauli in a salad. Adds a nice crunch.

A while back robin1234 mentioned Hebrew National hog dogs. I love the quarter pounders, split, grilled, and served on a nice bread roll or a section of baguette (none of those nasty soggy hot dog rolls), drizzled with Sriracha sauce and chopped Vidalia onion. Good stuff!

Sweet potatoes (call them yams if it makes you feel better about them!) are horrible if cooked in a sickly sweet way (no marshmallows ), but slice them thinly and saute them with chopped onion and ginger, finished with a little lemon juice, and they are fantastic. Or in the summer I nuke them and then finish them off on the grill, in their "jackets" -- serve with lots of butter and salt.

As for coriander/cilantro -- couldn't live without it! Finely chopped with chilies in yogurt and it's the best Indian chutney going!

Amen to that! Cauliflower baked ANY way is one of my faves.

And I can't be the only person in here who thinks okra is fantastic?
No, you're not. Several of us leapt to okra's defense on a previous page.

No is convincing me that strawberries are tasty. Vile, putrid, wet things.
Wait what? British strawberries are generally fantastic! Now American strawberries can be tasteless unfortunately, but some farm stands here do have decent ones. (Not as good, but close.)

Eat them hot.. don't get it for take out. I was a transplant in the south, so not big on grits, cornbread, bacon grease with veggies or fried everything but I love biscuits and gravy!

I have to respectfully disagree with you about cornbread. The Yanks got it right with that one

Yes, I hope everyone realises that the biscuits are nothing like British biscuits, & not really like scones either, though they may look a bit similar. Homemade American biscuits are a delicious southern delicacy if done right. (NOT possible in fast food places, I don't think.) They're closer to very good just-baked French croissants IMO, with hot flaky layers of yum.

I'm not such a fan of that pale southern gravy, but I admit anything served with a lovely (US-style) biscuit can be pretty good eating.

My son loves it too but he is native to the South. It's too dry for me, even with butter.

It is dry, but that can be easily remedied with a lovely cup of tea. But then, everything is made better with the addition of a cup of tea ...

Still minging. It's feasible in picallili and that's about it. Possibly having to eat it drowned in snotty cheese at school hasn't helped.

Curry, best use spuds, lentils or lamb.

Cottage cheese
buttermilk biscuits & the white gravy
sauerkraut
sushi (raw meat/fish is positively revolting)
Velveeta cheese food
calamari with the tentacles intact (i'll eat the ones without tentacles)
grits (I'm a native southerner and I hate them)
oysters
cucumbers

I could go on and on..
