Couldn't tell you about L.A.but lot's of Brit's have there own biz/painting/decorating here in Florida....The weather will suit you for sure,wall papering don't see a lot here,lot's of new paint techniques though....A Lot of DIY these day's,price's for painting are low.They don't prep much and spray paint....

Agreed on the wallpapering. I know a couple of ex pats who started with a 2nd hand cargo van and a dream. They now employ over 100 people and do very well on hotel and other commercial contracts. Wallpapering is a skill set in short supply. They basically have a Forth Road bridge scenario. Once they have finished at one end they start at the other again.

He's going to be competing with a shed-load of Mexican immigrants - some legal, many not, all working for low (cash) money to get-by. I can't see how the majority of people in that sort of trade would be better off in LA over the UK - not when you start to add-in health ins etc.
