Re: How low
It was so hot here yesterday that my friend and I were contemplating a beer at 10 in the morning!!!!
The thing is when it gets hot I feel as though I am on holiday
I sometimes buy ginger biscuits and sit with a cuppa and imagine I am in the UK somewhere..never works.

I am always thinking of a beer at 10 am.... only kidding. How about rich tea biscuits and a cuppa after you've been snow shovelling? Youre in PA I know you know what thats like. Or even better hot ribena after snow shovelling. Which I cant buy here. Anyone ever found it, Ribena that is?

Since then I have never liked hot ribena.
After snow shovelling it has to be choc digestives and hot chocolate.

Nooooo. Not hot ribena. When I was small my parents painted a room in what looked like a milky ribena colour. That night my mum gave me hot milk with ribena in and I thought they were trying to poison me with paint!

Re: How low
My mother tortured us with cod liver oil. I got smart when I was about 9. When I saw the glint in the eye, I'd literally run for the hills behind our house and hid for the entire day. Would come home and be spanked, but by then my dad would be home and he'd not make me drink it
My brother, who is way smarter than me, wasn't as cunning. He'd drink it down. Poor kid.
I got the egg, but in a different form. She'd break up a slice of bread, beat the egg over it, and add sugar to it. YUCK!

Re: How low
It was this vile green slimey skin cream that came in a flat orange and green tin from Boots. It was meant to be some kind of elixir for all childhood skin ailments. We were lathered with it liberally.
A couple of years ago when I was visiting home I saw my Dad smear it on my 3 year old niece. My sister and I just looked at each other and shared a shudder at such a memory. It was grim and did precisely nothing!
