Re: How homesick are you?

I've got a touch of the old home sickness today! As some of you know it's my boys firth birthday and the first one whereby we've not had all the family round. Trying to get everybody on the webcam and on the phone to wish him happy birthday was a bit of a nightmare, time differences, people at work etc etc....

Had a birthday do for him on Sunday with all his mates and took him out to lunch and to the pics this afternoon then out on his new bike which he fell off and now has a black eye!

Also my grandpa has been taken into hospital again and I just wish I could give him a hug.

I'm off to put the birthday boy to bed as he and his dad are wrestling on my bed and I just want to curl up have a cry and go to sleep. I'll be back to my happy self tomorrow, promise! ;)

I will have been here one year next Saturday. I feel so homesick.
I clicked my heels together 3 times in the shower tonight, didnt work.
Luckily I have a wonderful wife who does her best to cheer my spirits, if not for her I would have given up and headed home by now.

If it's any consolation (though I realise it probably isn't...), there is quite a few of us around :)

I've been here even longer mate, you're right though it does help when the wife does little things to cheer me up too. I usually find a blow job takes my mind of it.

Have I said before that you are wise beyond your years? :)

I'm listening to La Cenerentola, looking at some pictures of frescoes by Giotto, drinking a nice glass of Cab Sauv and posting the usual nonsense on BE.

I know things could be a lot worse.

Very similar ....looking at some pics of ..well you know ...
drinking an iced diet cola and posting the usual nonsense on BE.

Got a pang of homesickness a few nights ago. I had recorded House Hunters International on the DVR and the location was Edinburgh. I'm from a wee village just across the river, so all of the sights were "well kent" to me and my American better half for that matter.

Always makes me laugh in an outraged and indignant manner when they stick subtitles up when a Scotsman talks. Patronizing ba$tards.

Another show a few weeks ago was Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel. He was in Edinburgh (again) seeing how haggis was made. Mmmm, lovely stuff.....

ROFL. Actually my fiance (Scottish) has had a fine time trying to make himself understood over here at times. And I admit, I might like to have subtitles at times when his mum's on the phone.

My old lady neighbor was talking about him - said "we can't understand a word he says but we love to hear him talk!"

His vet school had an actual anatomy lecture on the anatomy of the haggis... all the US students were feverishly taking notes...

They don't in lost

Though my OH keeps asking me why the writers make him say "my brother" when it should be "pal".

I allow myself 1 day per month to be homesick I get out all my photos of where we used to live and old family photos and a large box of kleenex. I do miss my parents, sister, and brothers who are in the UK but I do not see us returning we bought a house last year the girls are settled at school and do not want to return to the UK, I have a god job I doubled my salary from what I was earning in the UK. My husband gets very homesick although he says he likes it here more than he hates it. If we did return we would return to very little and friends of ours have moved overseas from the UK some of my family are looking to moving overseas catch 22 situation dammed if you do dammed if you don't :)
