Hi, We live down the road from you, have been here 10 years and are thinking of heading to Scotland as our daughter is looking there for Uni's!
My advice to your daughter would be to go back to school and get a graduation certificate; there is a lot of pigeon holing here and when you fill out various applications (credit cards, insurance, job applications etc) they are going to ask if you have a GED (high school grad diploma) and if you don't you risk being pigeon holed and discriminated against.
If she does really well at school she might get scholarship awards that would help offset further education costs.
One more piece of advise regarding our experience here is that it took us six years to get a green card and then you have another five year wait from that date before you can apply for citizenship.
