Yeah, I'm kinda in limbo with our AOS situation. I my AED & AP this week which is awesome, but I can't get SS# because of the shutdown. Which is a bummer because I have a job waiting that I do hope will continue to wait..

You should be able to start work without a ssn. Your EAD alone is enough authorization. HR can put all zeros or something in their system until you get yours.

Here's a link I came across which seem to report detailed information on how the shutdown is affecting immigration matters:

Hope it helps.

Any update on this? I'm waiting for an appeal on a N-400 decision.

News reports have suggested that a limited clean bill is likely to be passed to fund the Government through to the beginning of next year and to raise the debt ceiling. That's the larger issue at this point.

There's always a larger issue than our personal issue.

My question stand in regards to implications on USCIS work - if anybody knows please.

I don't think anyone "knows". I am waiting for n400 interview appointment. I am counting on two times the length of the shut down being added to the unspecified waiting time that would be in normal circumstances.

I meant larger than the shutdown itself.

Has anyone now figured out the actual impact? Are they simply 6 weeks behind or 12 weeks behind?

Thanks

You asked the question 12 hours ago... when most folks on the east coast are already in bed and the central part of country is watching the late news! Are you so impatient to hear what you already fear? ... and how different will your life be for knowing, anyway?

site rule #13

USCIS day to day operations themselves were barely affected by the shutdown.

Re: Government shut down

Ah, OK, no bumping.

How do you know day to day matters were not affected? And also, since no work was done during the shutdown, there would be at least a delay of the same amount of time, right?

Re: Government shut down

OK, so I just called the USCIS customer service line. I know most of you think it's useless my my past experience of it has been fair.

I was told my case (N-336) had been transferred and to wait 180 days (statutory timing) before inquiring. I asked where it was transferred to and the agent could not answer so she volunteered to transfer me over to level 2. For the level 2 there was a 30 min wait time so I am now waiting to speak with someone. When I ask them about my case I will also ask how the shutdown has affected their work. She/he may not be allowed to answer that, but who know...
