back on topic, I wonder if the OP could at least get one of the cars through International Autosource, then as Mr Pardoe says they would have one new vehicle to rely on.

I don't know. BUT!!!!! I do have a nice little 1996 2.0 litre Auto VW Golf GL with a genuine 40,000 miles he can have for $5k. Belonged (this is dead serious) to a little old lady and has been sat for the last 3 years (she can't drive no more..she's got dicky peepers).

Metallic green with beige interior. Drives lovely...was going to use it for my winter beater for a year or two but I'd sell it and then get a $500 P.O.S to use for this winter.

True, I still had a few dodgy moments in my 2 wheel drive truck with nothing in the bed, 5.9 litres, 2 wheel drive and ice don't mix well. With hindsight a 4x4 would have been better.
