If I have errands to do like get drugs from the drive through pharmacy/breakfast from Mc D's/pick up the wife from school then I am quite happy (in warmer months) to wear my 'lounge pants' (PJ's) and flip flops

i don't care what other people think, they can kiss my ASS!

Guilty I often pop out in my PJ's to the store, not with fluffy slippers! I will wear a t.shirt or sweater and flip flops, I would never in a million years have done it at home tho, my teenage daughter would wear hers all day if possible

Yea I have seen it a lot and I also notice just how many medical workers walk around/ shopping etc in their scubs, most unhygienic!
I have also seen women in a casino wearing hair rollers, just popped out for a quick gamble with the rent money I suppose.

Not sure if this is necessarily solely an American phenomenon

My brother in law said he used to have classmates at school coming in wearing PJs, some with fluffy slippers too. He couldn't work out if they were lazy or running late or if it was some kind of new trend he'd missed out on.

It's very common for the girls in the local middle and high schools to wear pyjamas at school.....usually teamed up with Ugg sheepskin slippers.

99% of the time when I drive my son to school in the mornings I'm wearing my pyjamas too.....we leave the house at about 7.15am and I have my breakfast and take a shower when I get home. The only exception is if I need to pop to 7-11 or the supermarket for some milk, then I will put on some jeans and cover up my pyjama top with a jacket.

My friend in Melbourne, Australia says that many women also drive their kids to school whilst still wearing their nightwear......and seen more than a few of them standing next to their cars in their pink fluffy bedroom slippers when their car has overheated/broken down.....
