Finally!!! An interview. Wahoo!!!

150 + job applications and I finally have an interview.

Tomorrow is suit and tie day for a trip to Smyrna, Georgia for a Web Designer position.

After trying Dice.com, ComputerJobs.com, CareerBuilder.com and the ever crap Monster.com, I found one on Craiglist.org.

No agency.

Applied last night after having a look through and I got a call first thing this morning.

So, I'll be nervous on my three hour drive in the morning :D

Interested in how you get on Rincewind! I am in the same line of work (sucks doesn't it?) Only recently got my Emploment Authorization Card and still don't have my SSN yet - was told it will take about another 6 weeks! So I've started looking for work. Applied for a few things already generally IT related when I couldn't find much else. Question have you had any problem relating your UK qualifications so far??? Not sure myself but I am currently studying for a US award which I think will answer any questions before they are asked. Not cheap but sneaky Huh? :D

Well, after being here nearly three years, this is my first interview. I'll let you know.

Most Web jobs though look for exoerience years over qualifications. I've been in this business coming on seven years with a nice portfolio (well, in my eyes anyway, lol) so that counts.

The more you can prove that you can do what you say, the qualification confussion doesn't seem to matter.

If it all goes wrong, I guess we should start a business together. I'M SERIOUS!!!

So far my EAD has meant nothing. We'll see with this one tomorrow. As for the SSN, it maybe different in Texas, but I had mine within 10 days of visiting the Social Security office.

I changed it at the weekend, everyone kept asking if I was a female with the old one. Got a few laughs with the new name at least. I have'nt heard anything. I called the head-hunter and she said "they really liked me", that was last Wednesday and I am getting a little anxious. I am using monster.com as my primary job-hunting site, why don't you like it? I have only had 2 replies from about 35 applications, maybe that's why???

Never had anything back from Monster.com and most of their posted jobs are "Work from home" scams.

Add to that the annoying AIU Online pages that I keep getting redirected to and it drives me insane.

CareerBuilder.com is way better than Monster and Dice isn't too bad either.

I guess it depends on your field. Monster may be good in certain areas but weaker in others.

1pm. It's four hours north of me so I won't be back until later.

If I get it, we get to move which is cool as there are some nice rental properties in Smyrna. Been looking all ready this morning :D
