Re: Exchange Rate Today

I've just transferred a thousand pounds back to pay off a UK credit card. Jumped the gun a tad yesterday and arranged the transfer at 1.67, but even so, I'm pretty happy with that - substantial saving over even just a couple of weeks ago.

We're almost back to what I consider that parity rate of about 1.60 on the pound.

In the years I have been following this, the only constant has been that the pundits have always been wrong.

I suspect that those charts are incorrect in relation to the dollar instead of the 1st chart since all other relations are correct between other currencies in all there charts and only the dollar is the oddball. For example the 1st chart indicates the Danish Krone is overvalued by 50% against the dollar, the 2nd chart indicates the Danish Krone is overvalued by 50% to the Canadian dollar, and chart 3 indicates the Danish Korne is overvalued by 33% in realtion to the Euro. That makes sense in relation to all three charts. All other currencies match up correctly between all three charts.

Michael, it occurs to me that this site was made for you! :D

What is the best thing to do then if you have to transfer a big amount over to us? Is it worth waiting a while?

OK thanks, just another quick one. Moving over next week so will need cash until hubby gets paid, would you transfer a bit of cash over or withdraw cash/pay for stuff over there using UK current account card. Or am I talking nonsense?!

I've been looking at your house selling thread every now and then.

You have my sympathies... tough timing.

Add up what the ATM fees would be.. some of the banks are charging $5 per withdrawal for foreign machines so I take enough to make it worth the fee..
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm having the same problem with heating oil right now. :)

If you go back a few years, the current rate is not bad, go back a few months and it is crap.

Longer term, well the US Economy is in the shitter, UK looks worse.

Unless you really need it I would leave it in the UK. IMO it's best to spread it around.
