Default Entertainment Books- Good Value?

Has anybody ever purchased any of those Entertainment Books that contain coupons for discounts for goods and services in a particular city/metropolitan area?

The 2004(?) editions are valid until November this year.

I just wonder if they're good value? Are they of use for places and services you already use or does having the book mean that you try new restaurants, etc. 'cos you have the discount?

Feedback welcome.

Thanks,

They're a great value - if you use them! I've had them some years and never used but a few of the coupons. Other years, I've def got my money's worth.

We had one last year and it cost us $20. We got our moneys worth because we used the coupons to get discounts on tickets for sporting events. The thing is we hardly used any of the other coupons at all because we just forgot to take them with us when we went out.
Even when we put the book in the car we still forgot it was there.
I guess if you are an organised person who plans things in advance you could save a lot of money and the book can pay for itself a few times over throughout a year.

Hi there,

Definitely encourage you to buy the Entertainment Book. I have bought it in the past and it saves my family a bundle of dosh.

If you like going out and being adventurous, then go for it! You won't be disappointed. I love all the fast food chains along with the ethnic diversity of restaurants here in San Jose/San Francisco area. One good meal pays for the expense of buying the book.

I just moved to Morgan Hill, CA and that is on my list of items to purchase.

If you are the type of person who stays at home and doesn't experience life then use it in your fire place J/K (wink).

Have Fun!

The books are really good value, just one tip, if you are planning on visiting one of the non-chain restaurants, call ahead and confirm that they are still trading and accepting the card. On several occasions we have turned up and the place has closed down, oh, and if the listed telephone number just rings and rings, that’s another good sign that they have closed down!

Overall good value and it gets you to try places you probably wouldn’t have considered.

Thanks for the tip. I know that in my area restaurants can come and go within a few months.
