Four more years of a dumb arse still screwing up Iraq yet claiming their on the right track. Expect a draft in a year or two despite his assurances that it won't be. There is no other way as Bush seems to hate having the assistance of others ("don't forget Poland") and troops are thin on the ground. Expect another 9/11. Something big will happen in this term involving Bin Laden and Bush will probably use it as an excuse to invade Korea. Expect a four year delay in important stem cell research and watch thousands of frozen eggs, left over from IVF treatment, wasted. As Bill Maher says, "This one goes out to all the conservative women out there. If you're so sure the embryos needed for stem cell research are precious human life that can't be destroyed, then implant one in your uterus and bring it to term." Another four years of a schizophrenic President that claims (g)od told him to smite Al Qaeda........but then he missed. Wow, Bush even goes against (g)od. Let's see what the reputation of the US will be in four years. It can't get any worse than it is now right? Right? Okay, maybe it could get worse and it probably will. On the upside. Bill Maher and Jon Stewart have four more years of humor :D I think the scariest thing to me is that 50% of the US (going by election results), like the idea of bombing the shit of a country that didn't attack their own soil even when they were lied to by their Commander and Thief....oops...sorry...Chief. Granted, the President and the media did an excellent job of marketing Iraq as a threat and a target. But even when the truth (or lies) came out, they still believe in it  I couldn't have said it better myself. The fact that so many of my fellow Americans actually voted to reelect this guy makes me feel frustrated, angry, incredulous and embarrassed. Despite all the evidence pointing to why the Bush administration should be booted from office, apparently the majority of Americans feel comfortable looking the other way. Instead they base their vote on their religious feelings and, let's face it, complacency. I thought we, as a people, were smarter and more rational than that. Apparently not. We should feel ashamed of ourselves. My mom is coming to town for a visit this weekend, so Mark and I will be hanging out with her as well as my brother & sis-in-law. All of them are staunchly Republican. On top of that, my brother & sis-in-law are born-agains and my mom a Catholic convert, probably accounting for at least two if not three of the "moral values" votes which helped reelect Bush. Usually I just try to remove myself from family conversations involving politics, my brother's favorite subject (besides Jesus), but this time it will be impossible to do that, given what's happened in the last 24 hours. I just KNOW they're going to try to grill me for voting for Kerry -- I'm NOT looking forward to it. It's almost as bad as having to accept that Bush won. :( At least it's comforting to know that, if things get REALLY bad under Bush's 2nd term, we actually have the option of moving to Britain. I know of a lot of Kerry (or at least anti-Bush) supporters who would love to do that but simply can't. ~ Jenney |

Please do not feel embarrassed on my account nor my husband's. We are not embarrassed that you voted the way you did. We made our decision based on what facts were made available to on both candidates. We just didn't see things the way you did. If there were a third who was competent we would have definitely gone a different route. And for the record, neither of us are religious zealots. Rete |

Of course my vote doesn't embarrass you -- Bush won, which is what you wanted. However, I feel Bush is a disgrace and yet he still won. So yes, I am embarrassed, as are many others out there. If Kerry had won, I'm sure you'd feel embarrassed by the outcome. ~ Jenney |

Hey kids!!! Can I hang out here while the country is under attack?? |
Re: Election Results Shell Shock!?!
I didnt vote for the guy, but considering leaving the country because of the election of this president seems a bit drastic doesn,t it.
Certainly the idea of a democracy does mean accepting the choice of the majority and mercifully this time it was at least a clear choice. |

Although I have to say, the sad fact is, many people would vote for Arnie simply because he was the Terminator  "PUMP YOU UP!!!" |
