Kennedy was the last democrat from anywhere but the South to be elected president - and the dems should have realized that Kerry was no Kennedy. |

As much as I do not favor the current administration's policies, you don't change horsemen during the apocalypse. It's their **** up, let them work it out. Don't fool yourselves into thinking that Kerry coming into power will instantly make everything in the middle east peachy - the region will be ****ed no matter who is there, and they will always hate us. British history in the M.E teaches us that backing away now won't do any favors. Also, Kerry's senate voting record was very poor. It's akin to the kid who always skipped class showing up wanting to run for class president. He has done nothing truly worthwhile. It will be interesting to see who runs in '08 after all this is over. Guliani vs. Clinton anyone? :) |

That's how we got Churchill into office at the beginning of WWII. |

Was it Franklin who said..Those who trade their liberty for security deserve neither??? IMO the beauty and ideals of this country were sold down the river last night....sad, very sad. |

I for one do not want to live in a country where basic human rights are stamped on so a lunatic religious fringe can feel good about itself. I am disgusted, and ashamed today of how the rest of the world will now view the US, and needless to say the raw hatred against this country has gone up exponentially. I now hope that the republicans will **** things up so badly and mess up the economy, lose jobs, reinstate the draft etc etc that in 2008 they will be as unelectable as the tories were when major lost by a landslide. Four more years of a dumb arse still screwing up Iraq yet claiming their on the right track. Expect a draft in a year or two despite his assurances that it won't be. There is no other way as Bush seems to hate having the assistance of others ("don't forget Poland") and troops are thin on the ground. Expect another 9/11. Something big will happen in this term involving Bin Laden and Bush will probably use it as an excuse to invade Korea. Expect a four year delay in important stem cell research and watch thousands of frozen eggs, left over from IVF treatment, wasted. As Bill Maher says, "This one goes out to all the conservative women out there. If you're so sure the embryos needed for stem cell research are precious human life that can't be destroyed, then implant one in your uterus and bring it to term." Another four years of a schizophrenic President that claims (g)od told him to smite Al Qaeda........but then he missed. Wow, Bush even goes against (g)od. Let's see what the reputation of the US will be in four years. It can't get any worse than it is now right? Right? Okay, maybe it could get worse and it probably will. On the upside. Bill Maher and Jon Stewart have four more years of humor :D I think the scariest thing to me is that 50% of the US (going by election results), like the idea of bombing the shit of a country that didn't attack their own soil even when they were lied to by their Commander and Thief....oops...sorry...Chief. Granted, the President and the media did an excellent job of marketing Iraq as a threat and a target. But even when the truth (or lies) came out, they still believe in it  |
Re: Election Results Shell Shock!?!
I married into a family of Democrats so everyone is depressed today. I wasn't overly impressed by either candidate although I thought Kerry did better in the debates.
However, I would have loved to have seen Kerry win to see how his magnificent head of hair coped after a few years in the hot seat. Blair and Bush have each got a bit thinner and greyer since they took office. |

Re: Election Results Shell Shock!?!
lets just say Kerry was more immoral than Bush, that justifies the win. horse faced Kerry had a difficult time riding his high horse.

Who do you think the republicans will put up as candidates in 2008 to follow George W? And hopefully, the democrats will come up with far better candidates than for this election. I'm convinced that if there was a better democratic choice, Bush would have lost. I'm very depressed today. I went to bed hoping the news this morning would be that there would be a change. Instead, I felt tearful. |

Thats so true. It is a backward system that allows the Dems to appoint a leader 3 months before the election. This should be done 3 months after the election in order to have an established public figure. |
