disrimination ?

I looked at the Walgreen's menu.... quite the trip down memory lane. There are a couple of restaurants here that still use this style of menu, typed up and all. Interestingly enough, this local chain was the first to "integrate" its customers.
I'm curious -- does anyone know what "hot chemm" is??
mentioned along with hot chocolate.

Seems to be a lot of headbanging going on here, I don't think anyone can honestly deny that racism exists. I think the point some posters are attempting to make is that it is all too often used as a trump card too. I hate racism, I have however also seen people abusing the protection against racism that society tries to enforce. A good example of this would be when I worked as a retail store detective on Oxford St. I would arrest shoplifters of all races. I could pretty much guarantee though that half the time I arrested a black person, the first words out of their mouth would be "You are only picking on me because I am black" - err no I am picking on you because you are a thief! Another one: A femaile native American played the racist card when she failed to get a job in IT support when she was only qualified as a secretary. She caused enough of a stink that the university gave her the job. She still demonstrates on an almost daily basis that she is completely inept but nobody dare do anything about it.
As I said I hate discrimination of any kind, but this smacks of abusing racism safeguards to me, which may not be perfect yet but they are all we have and will be weakened even more by such petulant disregard.

Must find some sweetly playing violins to go with them though.

We've had cat fights, dog fights all sorts of fights on here but looks like we're shaping up for a wrinkly fight

We used to get the ' Your only picking on me because I'm white and are frightened to say anything to the blacks' all the time when I worked for HMPS

I suppose that I would be called a racist for saying that often times when I eat out and get a 'angry black woman' as a waitress, who couldn't give two shlts about me or my food or the service she gives...all the while fawining over a table full of blacks...that she is a racist and is discriminating against me (and I am too afraid of her spitting in my soup to complain)??

What we dont know is why that particular server (ie the one responsible for her table) overlooked her. If the SERVER was racist then they need an ass kicking.
I dont instantly assume there is no substance to the allegation....after all my job was to investigate allegations all the time. However, I also dont instantly assume the allegations are true. The only thing I deal in is facts...
Fact: She was seated as per her turn when she entered the resturant
Fact: She was not served for about 30 minutes.
Fact: During this time she was talking to her daughter. She only realised the time when she looked up and saw the clock and realised she had been sat talking for 30 minutes.
Fact: When she spoke the manager about this he appologised and offered her a free meal as recompense.
Fact: She declined
All these are from her own mouth.
