Re: Dinner time in the US
I'm indifferent, I wish they didn't clear the table while others are eating, but I'm not too concerned. What irritates me more is when they go to grab my plate when I haven't even finished! Even when I purposely rest my knife and/or fork handle on the table (a habit generally despise) deliberately to stop the waiter grabbing my plate, I have had them lean in to carefully place my cutlery back on the plate so they can remove it!
I think it says a lot about the amount of food wasted in America when the wait staff can't even work out when someone has finished eating.

He, I would guess, has more than one computer. Some may, rather enjoyably I might add, be in various stages of being built or rebuilt.

Well ... two, hardly a bunch but there you go. Oh, one working one down there too, which I use (obviously).

The plate-grabbing thing really bugs me

I'm simultaneously impressed, yet disappointed as I had a vision of a bunch of half-finished computers, or ones you're procrastinating over fixing, such as I have in my basement.

Don't worry... There are plenty of part-built kicking around, and an attic full of "spares".

I have to make do with emulators for my CPC or Amiga nostalgia. I might buy one of those Competition Pro USB joysticks, as playing Sensible Soccer with a PS2 style controller just feels weird.

The Atari in the Pic is a 1040STE. I have an old(er) 512STFM in the attic as well.

Re: Dinner time in the US
Remember football games that had no difficulty settings on them, yet you could still get beat on a random occasion by a second division team in the FA Cup while you're top of the league? The current games, while enjoyable, are easy enough that I can win the World Cup with Northern Ireland on the hardest setting ...
Oh, mods, feel free to split off these posts into a 'computer nostalgia' thread
