I recommend Expert Dental, close to Grand Central in NYC. They fixed my teeth and didn't rip me off. US dental plans seem pretty good - I got $2300 of dental work last year and the insurance picked up $2000 of that. I had some sort of private dental insurance in the UK which meant I'd get a cheque back for maybe half the cost a few weeks later.
