Current Travel Situation UK to USA?

Re: Current Travel Situation UK to USA?
Thanks for the info. Re day 2 test - I thought the day you land is day one. But then UK gov says that for the day 5 test you must have 5 full days in the uk and that the day you land doesn't count. I'm just trying to work out timings.
Also, presumably, you booked the Collinsons before leaving. Can you book your other tests with other providers?

It’s time to exempt fully vaccinated travelers.

Agreed. Im counting the costs up for two adults. To try and get out via test to release asap I'm booking an in clinic test that is able to provide results in 3-6 hours after my appointment. That increases the cost but not by too much and were looking at around $600

Walgreens ID Now, results back in a couple of hours
Writing this from England so it worked
Landed at LHR T2, looked like a long line at border patrol but was through in 25 minutes, no check of PLF forms or Covid test
Airline checked those documents twice at Chicago before we boarded
Took Day 2 test at Collinsons at Heathrow when we landed

Arrival day = Day 0
Day after arrival day = Day 1
Day after day after arrival day = Day 2 = do the test

Re: Current Travel Situation UK to USA?
No it has to be done on "day 2," (not by day 2, which would imply you could do it the day before, which you can't) it's just that "day 2" is the third day you are in the UK!
Arrival day = Day 0
Day after arrival day = Day 1
Day after day after arrival day = Day 2 = do the test
Arrival day = Day 0
Day after arrival day = Day 1
Day after day after arrival day = Day 2 = do the test

Don't know if anyone's used these people, but 95 quid for a Day 2 and Day 8 package seems like a good deal. They may not have the fastest results, but I don't know that that matters if you are taking the Day 5 test to test out - that's the only one speed will matter on I think.

Re: Current Travel Situation UK to USA?
I've been reading this thread with interest, as I am due to travel to Edinburgh (via London Heathrow) from the US (JFK) in September.
I'm just looking for some advice/clarification on the Covid tests required etc.
I plan to use Walgreens for my test. They offer 3 different ones; Rapid Diagnostic Test, Diagnostic Lab Test (PCR) and Rapid Antigen Test. As far as I'm aware, the Diagnostic lab Test (PCR) is the test that is accepted by the UK for entry, correct? The turnaround times for this test seem to be around 48 hours. Just wondered if anyone has used this service? I'm a little concerned about the timing of the test results and my flight time. I'm travelling Wednesday evening, so I'm going to try and book a test at Walgreens on Sunday evening. If they are not open Sunday evening I will book try and book an appointment or Monday morning and hope that the results are returned in time!
I know that I have to purchase the day 2 and 8 test kit. I arrive in the UK September 2nd, so my day 2 test will be Sept 4th and my day 8 test Sept 10, which is a Friday. I fly out on Monday morning on September 13th. I'm hoping that I will I be able to use the day 8 test for returning to the US. Does anyone foresee any problems with this? Only thing that concerns me is the results being processed within 48/72 hours over a weekend. I was thinking that i could also use the Boots test as a back-up, but there test results also take up to 48 hours to be processed, so I'm not sure it would be worth it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

According to Philk, the Walgreens IDNow test (same day results) is fine for entry to the UK.
Afraid I don't know if you can use the Day 8 to return, but review the thread because I think I saw mention of it being possible somewhere up thread.
