I think Utah might just give me a culture shock, and I'm a yank. I do know it's beautiful, but...

Sorry you're having such a rough time.

I remember Park City from the winter olympics, it looked beautiful to me. Loads of outdoor stuff for the kids.

Much as I'm finding this hard I have noooo intention of going back to the UK any time soon, don't miss it at all. It's Oz I miss as we were only there 20 months and I loved it from day 1. Never mind, been for a 2 hour hike this morning and also sorted out a thing at school with my 11 year old and feel a lot better.

Park City is beautiful, I think I just need to be out and about more which I am starting to do.

Thanks everyone, did me good to vent.

Glad today is brighter, Weasy. I think Utah would be a shock for most of us at first. You will conquer!

My favorite expression on bidding someone farewell is, 'have fun'. It's something I can say with conviction! It's short and sweet ...

Have Fun!

Glad to hear you seem to feel brighter. Now get out and find those nice people that you said you hadn't found after 3 months. Any chance you can give yourself a break and get away for the weekend somewhere, with or without OH? You're going to make it OK.

Thanks . No time for a weekend away right now as I've filled every weekend up with booked skiing lessons etc to keep me busy. I did bite the bullet today and phoned one of the kids friends mums and asked if she'd like to meet for coffee and we're meeting on Thursday and she's talking about us going cross country skiing together. I know I'll be okay it's just going to be a lot harder than it was settling in Oz.

Hey, maybe she's not a Mormon if she's up for coffee! Here's a bit of trivia - Utah voted 62% for McCain; only two states had higher McCain percentages (Wyoming and Oklahoma). In Utah itself, only three counties had a majority vote for Obama, one being Summit County, where Park City is; they voted 56% for Obama. So - there is hope that you are in a relatively 'liberal' part of Utah! (By comparison, San Francisco County voted 84% for Obama, and Manhattan voted 85% for Obama).

One of my former colleagues lives in Park City; he's an Aussie actually, and a wild creature. He loves it there. I'm sure you know how beautiful Bryce Canyon and Zion are - but if not - go there and you will be amazed. They are my favorite two National Parks in the US. If you can only find a way to escape the oppressive Mormon 'vibe', life could be good there!

And if you want to learn something about Mormons, click this link and view episode 712 - it's one of the best South Park episodes ever, and tells the true story of the Mormons (I did some research, the show is actually factual ... dum-dum-dum ... you'll get it once you see the show ...). (suffer through the 30 second commercial; the rest is high quality material, much better than youtube). Despite utterly panning the Mormons in one sense, the final message is somewhat supportive. Man, I wish South Park was this good all the time ...

Or "be lucky!" that's a good one too.
I stopped with "take care" a long while back, I suspect that people didn't think I cared enough to say it.
