My husband has no idea how much I pay.

He used to pay a fiver in England at the local barbers. So when he was charged $40.00 the first time he had his haircut here he bought a set of clippers and now I do his hair. One time I forgot to put the guard thing on and shaved one sideboard and some of his hair off completely.

I cut my husband's hair too! He always used to come home after a hair cut and say 'This is not quite right...can you trim it?' in the end it was easier for me to take on the role as his hairdresser. I've been his personal stylist for about 20 years.

While I'm snipping away I always say things like 'Are you going out tonight?' or 'Have you booked your holidays yet?'...standard hairdresser chat.

Check out www.target.com they are carrying a limited range of Boots products on line and in selected stores. So are CVs pharmacies but I dont know if they are only a New England company. On line is easier anyway.

THe day M& S start exporting I am going to blow my credit card.

I do that everytime - but how pointless is it!?

I got some No7 in my local target. Let the teenager who tries to use it beware.

Target originated in Minnesota...they have about 1,500 stores located in most states. 11 yrs ago you couldn't find a Target store in this area...in the last 8 yrs they seem to be opening everywhere.

Just for the record my hairdresser is fab, took me three years to find a decent one. Cost about 100.00 for partial high lights and cut / blow dry. And like you all I give the 20%. Once when I wasnt happy he did me a fix for nothing and he'd only done what I asked in the first place.

Windsor CT, William. Salons name "Hairdresser on fire" yep well I dont know where he dreamt that one up......

Waahh .. wanna hear about my awful haircut?!

Well, I'll tell you anyway

We went to Kehoh (oh God, I've forgotten what it was called now .. near Galveston) on Sunday for the day. Began with K anyway!

Well on the way back we saw an Office Depot store, so my H being the gadget geek he is, wanted to pull in so we could take a look. Won't bore you with the details of electronics and gadgetry (needless to say we did make a purchase or 2!). Anyway, as we walked out he spotted a hairdressers, and as his badly needed doing suggested he went in.

Now my hair is due for a cut this week (usually have it done once every 6 weeks) and perhaps it's the weather, but it seems to have grown a bit faster and was beginning to bug me. So much so I did mention it a couple of times. DH was thoughtful enough to suggest I have mine done too! In front of the staff! :curse:

Against my better judgement and female intuition, I said yes. :curse:

I asked the girl if she could do my hair and she said 'yes, I cut hair all the time'! Don't know what it was about that comment, but alarm bells were ringing - and with just cause.

She asked how much I wanted off the back and I said about 3/4 of an inch. She took off about 3 bloody inches and my hair, instead of being shoulder length, barely covers my neck

And there is no shape round the front at all. She pulled my hair back, combed it (I had to ask to have it washed first as she was going to cut it dry ) and then cut a straight line. No styling whatsoever! She then gave me a middle parting (!) and cut my 'fringe' straight across, and then said she was done!!

Erm .. I don't think so!

I showed her where my layers were and how I usually have it styled, but my God I look like someone has taken a chainsaw to my hair

Blow-crying (erm, typo, but an apt one!) was a laugh - I can do better myself! She didn't even attempt to style!!

I really miss my hairdresser .. and it's heartening to know I'm not the only one who does!

Have to say I have had a recommendation for a hairdresser from someone who lives near where we will be living, so I'll check them out. But in a few months time when my hair has grown!!
