Clothing for Houston, what to pack?
Hi
Its freezing here in London however weather is probably better out there in Houston. I was wondering whether i should pack any winter clothing. I will be in Houston between mid Feb to June. Will a jumper suffice or is north face coat necessary?
Any tips?

A jumper will be fine and that will only be for over air conditioned offices and restaurants. You never need a North Face coat even in the winter in Houston. The time you are coming will be hot, then very hot, then even hotter.

Light rain coat. No heavy coat. Even better, empty case, go shopping

Yep, mid Feb could still have a couple of cooler days. Light cardigan's for restaurants or malls. A light rain coat maybe but I just use an umbrella and run inside LOL. By June it's gonna be hot hot hot so summer clothes.

Pack less, bring money. Clothes are dirt cheap here. Bring a good hat, buy a summer Stetson here, and sandals are the footwear here.
You are coming during hot, hot, hot. Light cardigan for restaurants/etc. AC blasts are everywhere inside.
Did I mention it will be hot? Light colors. Forget black, dark blue, etc.
Don't bring clothes. Bring other things, like chocs for the BE Houstonians. You'll buy clothes here!

Being serious for a while.....
We're having a really mild start to the year so far - it is definitely shorts and t-shirt weather at the moment. It was chilly a couple of weeks back (probably in response to Binks' complaint about lack of winter!) and I dug out a fleece, but still wore shorts, and didn't need the fleece for long.
By the end of your stay it will be getting hot, but still in the pleasant (for me) temperature ranges before the really oppressive humid months of July and August.
Dress here is very casual - I'll leave the folks with those 4-letter word things to talk about office attire, but in the evenings jeans/chinos and a polo shirt will get you just about anywhere. I can't remember the last time I wore a tie to a social function outside a funeral home. Even going to the theatre/opera/ballet you will see a range from tuxedos to suits to "sports jackets to open neck shirt and chinos. We're still technically in drought, and although we're having a few showers now and then, its not the tropical downpour style that we sometimes get. A raincoat is easy to pack, and may be handy occasionally, but unless you are planning a lot of outdoor activity, I doubt you'll use it much.
Check out the weather on here...its normally pretty accurate. And just to prove me wrong on the raincoat, its forecasting thunderstorms tomorrow!

It has been pretty mild recently. I played footy on Sunday and it was like an English summer (and I got a bit of tan!)
Bring a light outer layer, but seriously you'll predominately be in shorts and T-shirt wearing flip flops/sandals.
The difficulty is in summer here as, as others have mentioned, it's bloody hot outside but like walking into a freezer in shops/restaurants as they all set the AC sooooo low! I'll often be wearing shorts, t shirt, flip flops, and with a hoodie tied round my waste for when I go inside!
And in response to Yorkie's comment about casual attire - I went to a wedding in November where it said FORMAL DRESS CODE (yes in big letters) on the invite, so I went to my wife and said I'll have to hire a tux as I don't own one. She was like, nah you just need to wear a shirt and trousers and maybe a tie. Being the Brit I am, I turned up in a suit - and whilst there were a few people in suits, in comparison to most I was very smart! Business is like that here. I often wear jeans and a shirt/polo to meetings and I wouldn't dream of turning up to a meeting in a suit.

Not blaming - thanking!
I do like a bit of a cold snap, as long as its not too long. Or too cold. Its good every now and then to have to dust the fleece off without having to go to the bother of squeezing my fat arris into a pair of grown up long pants. And it gives a sort of blitz spirit solidarity feeling for all those chaps "oop north" struggling with their snow chains and snow blowers and all that fun stuff
