If your living abroad, you ain't a US resident, so you'd lose the greencard...but also there's tax implications if you've had the greencard for donkeys of years and then bugger off, can't remember the details, but I think it's along the lines of having it for 8 years then you still have to file to the IRS for a few years after...someone posted link to the info about a week ago..
