And the last time I looked... US Sony had a 6 month warranty (limited)

That's true...I think BJ's is the same...if I remember correctly you pay 10% more if you're not a member. You can't even get through the door at Costco without a membership card.

I believe you can get a one day trial membership from Costco though - of course they will take all your details and will probably bombard you with stuff afterwards.

yup, I think your right about BJ's...not gone to a costco yet though as there ain't one that close, well compared to the 10 mins to get to BJ's.

I use Radio Shack and Best Buy. They both stand behind their sales and have good staff. NEVER buy in those small stores, they are overpriced and sell shoddy merchandise which if you are leaving the country you are stuck with.

They wouldn't let us in before we became members but that was at least 9 yrs ago...maybe their policy has changed.

Does Makro exist in the States.
Oh and it's Elkhart and South bend in Indiana I'll be visiting.
Is Radioshack any good.

Neil - What's the model number of your Sony?
I quite like the look of the SR32 and SR33.
Still trying to decide if I prefer DVD,or hard disk
I'm in Ohio and have an older Sony super 8. It's great....purchased at Circuit City I believe (big chain here). I bought a Kodak digital there also about 3 years ago....ex got it in divorce. I bought my daughter a Kodak digital at Sam's because of the additional warranty but they really aren't that much cheaper, esp. if Circuit City is having a sale. I also buy a lot of electronics from Best Buy (another big chain).

I do not recommend Radio Shack only because the prices are usually higher and the selection is low. I go there only because it is more convenient and the quality is high when I need computer cords, cell phone extras, adapters, etc.
