Check out stuff on E visa's, you have to invest in a US business and it has to generate employment for Americans and not just your family. You are resident as long as the visa is valid, and now it also allows for a spouse to work, so one of you can run the business the other work. They usually like you to pay cash for the whole of the business without financing, but I think there are ways round that.

E-2 does not give you permanent residency ..i.e. No green Card
But a $400k business would get you an E-2 ..of course bear in mind
you still need cars, property ..
But for some its the only way ...
