Aston Martin is Ford owned now I believe .. I used to pass the factory
on the way to Santa Pod .. many years ago ...

Indeed it is! In fact there really are no british owned car manufacturers anymore (couple of small handbuilt specialists - Morgan probably being the largest!)

Who owns Lotus these days?

Anyway, there's a car company out in b'ham that's a Brit company, makes fast, but small little numbers, started out using motorbike engines, can't remember the name now though, but they weren't half fast..
