NBC didn't really tell me what he had done wrong, so I didn't know what to look for.

It annoys me to see we're so far behind Germany and France, I see our country's as similar so why are we so far behind them in sport?

Countries doing well in olympic swimming: USA, Australia...

There's no mystery here.

You just need categories more suitable to the UK, like, um.. queueing for the 268 bus with 5 bags of groceries from Tesco's.

Hehe. I remember a joke from a stand up comic years ago about UK beaches. Think it was Ben Elton.

"I was in Florida and went swimming in the sea...beautiful clear water, you can see right to the bottom. In Britains seas you can see whats come out of someones bottom"

Let's face it Britain is not a country suitable for creating champion athletes on a regular basis. What youngster/teenager wants to cycle/run/jump hurdles etc in the pissing rain?

PE at school for me meant a pointless 45 mins chasing a small wooden ball in near freezing damp weather on a gravel hockey pitch doing a totally unintresting and pointless sport. Yeah thanks for teaching me hockey, I will certainly do this for the rest of my life to keep trim! All the sports taught by one guy. My petition to have only football in my PE regime was turned down unfortunitly

Unless the government are going to start throwing billions of £'s into creating big FREE sports centres then there will continue to be a lack of sports stars coming from the UK.

To quote a Madness song

"All the teachers in the pub
Passing 'round the ready-rub
Trying not to think of when
The lunch-time bell will ring again."

My PE teacher was like that actually.

Excellent We have 5 golds, 10 silvers and, I think, 1 bronze so far....just wish we could have seen some of the performances ...would be nice to see the medal ceremonies with the old union flag being hoisted too...
