And the 4th of July? Maybe Blair could invite the Bush's over for the firewirks this year.

We do. Thanksgiving, in the UK, is traditionally celebrated on 4th July.

I've had both of those questions when I was in England
I can understand the Thanksgiving one, but Christmas??
It goes both ways!

Read what you just said.

It doesn't have to be a RACE to be RACIAL.

What exactly is "racism" again in the dictionary?

I don't like Floridians. I'm such a RACIST aren't I?

You did go to school right? Or was it Hogwarts?

-= nav =-
oh now nav...it seems to me that the OP was trying to make a comment on your personal and specific interpretation of race rather than a general comment.

and what have you got against all these wizards eh? Is this just another facet of your alleged racism showing through?

also, i freely admit that there are many posts on this board that could be interpreted as whiny or anti-american - if you can't deal with that then don't read this board. everyone likes to bitch once in a while, and there's nothing wrong with that. whilst most of the people here are in the states because they want to be, and because they are benefitting from being here in some way - but that doesn't mean that everything is rosy all the time. However much people want to be here it *does* get frustrating when people ask you to repeat yourself because you talk "so cute" or they just plain don't understand you. America and Americans are riddled with thousands of things that most of us find amusing, annoying, stupid or downright bizarre. That doesn't necessarily mean we're superior when we bring them up, just foreign (I'm not about to deny that there are plenty of things just like that in the UK too.) But, being ex-pats, there aren't necessarily a lot of fellow Brits around IRL, so I think a lot of us post on here to blow off steam and reassure ourselves that we're not crackers and other people experience the same things too. If that offends you, I'm sorry, but maybe you should think about the purpose of a board before posting remarks that are easily interpreted as inflammatory. Sure, not everyone gave you a rational respones, but we're not all rational after a long day in the mines. It happens.

Stupid Question: "Do you guys have 4th of July in England"

My answer, "No, we go straight from the 3rd to the 5th"

Sorry Webbie, you're wrong there. Dubya used to visit Scotland as a kid. "H" was a friend of the Gammell family on account of both families being into oil.

I have also had chance to watch British (English?) movies where I could barely make out 1/2 of what was said. The strong Cockney (I'll admit my ignorance...Liverpool?) accent is tough,
Not Liverpool, what's your second guess?

You've got me confused, granted that's not hard to do, but I'm confused nonetheless.

Oh no.... jaybob,

what i am trying to say is that it's hard to understand But the accent as an Entity Sounds really sweet.

The americans don't sound pretty to ears but i can understand them.

Lemme put it this way, British is sweet & American is sour.

Amazing how the myrad of accents within a land 2.5 times the size of Western Europe can be lumped together as one simple
"American" accent. Perhaps you are oversimplifying, or perhaps you are a simpleton.
Which "American" accent are you refering to? Hell, within most States here I can distinguish several different accents.
