Anyone remember, I think they were in the Hotspur or Victor.

"Limp along Leslie"........he was a one legged football player in the 1st division who somehow managed to score numerous fantastic goals.

"Alf Tupper - Tough of the Track" He was a welder who ran around the streets bear-footed, and somehow managed to represent England in The Olympic games, I can't remember if he won.
He was a sort of fish and chip eating, male, Zola Bud

My all time favourite were the Bash Street Kids, Plug and all.

I was also into Famous Five - still have my collection although it's not complete - lent a few to one of my nieces and never got them back - also don't think I had finished collecting them all but they took me such a long time to save for, will never throw them away.

Do you remember Postal Orders, used to get them for birthday pressys etc. - always used them to buy the latest famous five book released.

We had two shipments from UK during our first few years here. The first one contained pine bedroom furniture we had bought after we got married, (we used money given to us as wedding presents so there was no way we could get rid of that). Now used by visitors in one of our spare rooms. Also contained some kitchen 'essentials' as far as I was concerned.

The second shipment contained all our memorabilia crap as my Husband calls it. He's always having a go about my hoarding stuff, but you should have seen the amount he had saved - the item furthest back in his history were the piano lesson books that he started with at the age of 5....!!!

Our books did play a large part of our second shipment, along with Ray's music books, LPs, University notes and exam papers :confused: Beano's going back to the 60s, Our Wullie, The Broons and Beano Annuals, etc. etc. etc. And believe it or not his Mum threw a lot of stuff out while he was at University and they moved house.

...with lashings and lashings of ginger beer!! I loved the Famous Five books too. I used to get them from the library though :)
