Books
I've always wanted a complete set of the Malory Towers series by Enid Blyton.
Just got off the phone with this chap and he is going to hook me up with a set in paper back and a set in hard cover. He has a lot of the old annuals too (my favourite was Mandy) What comics did you like to read the best? You might be able to find them here |

I have some really old comics from my dads era real early sketches of desperate dan etc. My all time fav's were the 'commando' comic books the first one I ever bought was 9 pence. |

Bunty and Judy - I'm afraid a lot of you have probably never heard of them Yosser - Hubbys very into Viz these days, but it used to be The Beano - in amongst the personal things we had shipped a couple of years ago is a large cardboard box FULL of Beano comics. He even has a large collection of Plastic Beano Characters dutifully collected and delivered by his sister Myra when Macdonalds were doing them over in England a couple of years ago...... |
Re: Books
Must admit I stocked up on Eagle comics from the 80's from ebay before I came out here.... Felt 10 years old again :')

I can't wait to hide my amex bill.... I mean get the books I ordered! ;)
I graduated to Mandy from years of Beano and Whizzer! Later on I had Smash Hits delivered every Thursday by the paper boy! (Wish they still did that) :D |

Hi
I remember Bunty & Judy!!! I loved Bunty beacuse of the cut out dolls & clothes on the back page!! I also had Diana and then Jackie! I had the whole hard back sets of The Secret Seven and The Famous Five books but when I left home my mum gave them all away to charity shops! I could have cried!! Re: Books
I used to love "Shoot" and "whiza and Chips"
Anybody remember those? My 12 year old son is really into Adrian Mole at the moment, which I also read and loved at his age. Re: Books
Anyone remember, I think they were in the Hotspur or Victor.
"Limp along Leslie"........he was a one legged football player in the 1st division who somehow managed to score numerous fantastic goals. "Alf Tupper - Tough of the Track" He was a welder who ran around the streets bear-footed, and somehow managed to represent England in The Olympic games, I can't remember if he won. He was a sort of fish and chip eating, male, Zola Bud My all time favourite were the Bash Street Kids, Plug and all. |

Maggie Do you remember Postal Orders, used to get them for birthday pressys etc. - always used them to buy the latest famous five book released. We had two shipments from UK during our first few years here. The first one contained pine bedroom furniture we had bought after we got married, (we used money given to us as wedding presents so there was no way we could get rid of that). Now used by visitors in one of our spare rooms. Also contained some kitchen 'essentials' as far as I was concerned. The second shipment contained all our memorabilia crap as my Husband calls it. He's always having a go about my hoarding stuff, but you should have seen the amount he had saved - the item furthest back in his history were the piano lesson books that he started with at the age of 5....!!! Our books did play a large part of our second shipment, along with Ray's music books, LPs, University notes and exam papers  Beano's going back to the 60s, Our Wullie, The Broons and Beano Annuals, etc. etc. etc. And believe it or not his Mum threw a lot of stuff out while he was at University and they moved house. |
Re: Books
Originally posted by ArsNo2 I was also into Famous Five - still have my collection although it's not complete - lent a few to one of my nieces and never got them back - also don't think I had finished collecting them all but they took me such a long time to save for, will never throw them away |
