neither. Will be getting up early for work

I had thought of trying to go this year because we are skint....but I signed up to one of those email alert things when stores announce their deals, and there's really nothing that interests me enough to get out of bed at 4am

i'm sorely tempted. After one mess around after another I'm without a "posh" suite for the sitting room. I just can't excited enough about it to get up at 4 am

Re: Black Friday

There's that site that lists all the black friday sales early, from leaked advertising and they all look shit this year...might pop into Target and do the grocery shop after dropping the missus off at work and that's about it.

Re: Black Friday

Hmmm I may end up in Walmart or Michaels, only because I want to get a Cricut for my crafting neice and they are soooo much cheaper than she could get one in the UK.

I'm staying home, though am always fascinated by Black Friday and have been out in it before. But there's nothing I need to get this year. I may watch for news reports on TV.

DH has to work from 1 AM to 11 AM on Black Friday, in big-box retail. All you shoppers, please be kind to the staff this holiday season - it's their sacrifices* that make your buying extravaganzas possible!

* Yeah, yeah, when they asked him to work that day he COULD have said no....but saying no to management requests tends to put you lower down in the rankings when future schedules are made, promotions are offered, budgets are cut, etc...

I have worked in retail at holiday time. It's pure hell. I bartend and all the crazies come out of the woodwork around the holidays as well!

Sleeping in.

I'm doing most of my shopping online - I can't stand the crowds.

Also if I go to the retail sites via airlines I have Frequent Flyer cards with ie. Continental Airlines and American Airlines, I get bonus airmiles too! :)

Re: Black Friday

My husband has added Amazon Black Friday deals to our desktop already! I shop though airline websites and cashback websites quite frequently. It's amazing how the cashback and miles add up!

Re: Black Friday

This is my first Black Friday here. We have been warned not to go anywhere near the shops :)

Even though there are many bargains to be had, I just can't bear the thought of all those manic people. It's either on-line shopping for me or nothing.

I am going to go for the lie in option on this one.

Be sure to watch any coverage on your local news - it's always fun to watch the people waiting/shopping, especially if it's snowing heavily and you're warm at home. :D

We got a great deal on an HDTV last year on Amazon. I hate the crowds as well!

Tough. According to the very confused instructions the employees at our local Walmart are getting, customers will be able to queue for and receive "bracelets" for ONE type of electronic item only. You can apparently get as many TVs as you want if you're in the TV queue but they won't let you get both the tv and the game system.

Of course, the instructions have been changing every day so who knows what will actually happen. Oh, and the TV commercials say electronics go on sale at 5 but the employees have been told to start handing out the bracelets at 2...

Just got an e-mail from Michaels - they are giving 60% off the cricut cartridges Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

The only thing I am planning to do is get dudes Macbook - it's the only day of the year apple gives anything off so I might as well buy on Friday however the deals are available in-store and on-line so I will be shopping from the sofa :)!

Re: Black Friday

Thanks CB, got that email too. I don't use the cartridges as I have a programme that allows me to design my own stuff or use any True Type Font that I download!

Re: Black Friday

Looked at a $200 laptop in WallyWorld's ad, but it turns out it's not got the graphics support for SWMBO's game. So I get to sleep in. Hoorah!

Midway have a digital scale, accurate to 0.1 grains, down from $40 to $15. I'll try to snag one of those, as I'm working up a load for an old Webley with only a 0.2 grain margin of error - so it might well come in handy. But that's online, so it's just a matter of being awake at 00:01 Friday, then going to bed.

Does your set up support Postscript? I ask 'cos, back in the day, TruType fonts tended to have way too many control points, which would bog down the RIP. Postscript was always a lot faster.

I do really need to update my black and white set, so it will have to be the telly I guess. No one has asked to check my licence yet, probably more for colour?

Ehhh can you convert that into non geeky speak for me lol!? I have no idea what you are talking about. All I can tell you is I can load any TTF including dingbats and the Sure Cuts a Lot programme will recognise them. I can design in a normal graphics programme and get it trace and convert them tto SVG files and cut those too. Guess that's all I really need to understand really

Useful for weighing out the baggies, too.

Sorry, I was pissed and prob overcomplicating things. I don't really know what it that you're doing with this all, but it's prob not the 2400 dpi stuff I used to work with. I shouldn't worry, if I were you.;)

Nah, there's loads of cheap crap that's accurate to 0.2g that's perfectly good enough for those cnuts. But, given that 0.2g = 3.1 grains, you'll understand why I need a little more precision.

I think....but could well be wrong....that it's an embroidery machine. Probably less than 24 dpi!

Re: Black Friday

The missus had to work at 5:30 so after dropping her off, went to Walmart as it is only a little further up the street, found a game on someones wish list going cheap, so queued the hour to get it...only to find while doing the grocery shop at Target, where they didn't have queues, it was cheaper on the clearance rack :D

chartreuse Nov 26th 2010 3:12 am

Re: Black Friday

Yeah, I was disappointed too. Stayed up past midnight to get those reloading scales, only to find (when I got into the details) that they're only accurate to 0.2 grains, not 0.1 as claimed, so I didn't bother.

Mummy in the foothills Nov 26th 2010 4:08 am

Re: Black Friday

I did my Black friday shopping online at Amazon while still in my jammies.
They have those hot deals that come up if you wait and watch, I got Ds's computer I hesitated and they were all gone in about a minute, so I was on the wait list for 30 minutes then finally got one when some people didn't check out in time. I'm very happy to have got it, Toshiba, with the web cam etc for less than I could find a decent one anywhere here. ($329) He'll be very pleased on Christmas day I'm sure.
I did well there last year too, I got older Ds his TomTom.

Walmart has them in stock, online for $185.

I still have no idea what they are, though.

Yes, these were selling for $83 though. Big saving.

Not my thing I'm not crafty, just saw someone was after one on here.
