...yet Hythe and Winchester did! Hythe s a beautiful seaside town in East Kent (very close to where I grew up), and Winchester as I understood it was an attractive cathedral city!

No arguements with Hull though.

You can nominate an American town:
www.craptowns.com

Don't know if any U.S towns can reach the high standards of crap reached by Didcot (*shivers at the memory*) for instance.

Birmingham, Alabama ?

Wasn't intending to start an "A is better than B" discussion as thats been done to death elsewhere....I was merely trying to add balance to a somewhat lopsided post that implied that only people in the US had an alternative. Which is obviously not the case.

Frankly, I think that the ability to live anywhere in the US is a huge advantage over a typical UK citizen being able to live anywhere in the UK (or EU).

But really, let's just forget this. The idea of a shitlist of cities is stupid. Since when does it matter where people come from or where they live? It doesn't have to hold people back or shouldn't prevent people from living a good life.. and this is directed at the original poster of the shitlist. I think this is the wrong philosophy. Some people like only a metropolis. Some like big cities, medium cities, small. Some like towns or isolated areas/ wilderness. Who is to say who should like what? I think it's a terrible philosophy and shitty itself. LOL
