We have been using it for about a year and never had any problems. We regularly use it to phone UK, Italy and Australia. We dial a local phone number (so you will need to check they have one for where you live) and then enter an access code.

I just can't believe it took us so long to switch from rip-off Verizon!

Check out their website http://www.1010987.com/lb/

They have a helpful rate table on there aswell for all other countries (I have family in Portugal and Australia too so that was helpful)

Just a quick word of warning for those unlucky folks who don't like to be screwed twice:
10-10-987 is MCI Worldcom

More 10-10-987 info . . .(I've never had a problem with them)

Q. Who is 10-10-987?
A. 10-10-987 long distance is provided by Telecom*USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of MCI. Telecom*USA has been providing quality long distance phone service at great low rates to customers since 1984. As a full service provider, Telecom*USA gives customers everything they expect: crystal-clear sound quality, fast connections with state-of-the-art network and easy to understand billing.

Q. Does 10-10-987 have monthly plan fees?
A. There are NO monthly plan fees with 10-10-987. You’re charged only for the calls you complete, and the charges will appear on your local phone bill. As with any long-distance call, applicable taxes and Federal Universal Service Fees are assessed.

Q. Will I be charged for a call if there is no answer?
A. No. 10-10-987 only charges for completed calls. If a call rings without ever being picked up by a live or recorded voice, you will not be charged.

Q. How much does it cost to call within the U.S.?
A. All calls anywhere in U.S. are an amazing 3¢ per minute and a low 46¢ to connect -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These rates apply on all state-to-state, in-state and local toll calls. Just dial 10-10-987 + 1 + the area code and the number you wish to call. Charges will appear on your local phone bill.

Q. How much does it cost to call Western Europe?
A. All calls to Western Europe are an amazing 3¢ per minute and a low 46¢ to connect -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week.* Just dial 10-10-987 + 011 + the country code and the number you wish to call. Charges will appear on your local phone bill. Western Europe includes: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Vatican City.

Q. How much does it cost to call the rest of the world?
A. 10-10-987 has low international calling rates around the world. Please visit our Rate Locator to look up specific rates by country.. These great rates apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Just dial 10-10-987 + 011 + the country code and the number you wish to call. Charges will appear on your local phone bill.

Q. Why is there an additional per minute charge to call mobile phones in some countries?
A. Due to increased costs imposed by some overseas telephone companies, an additional per minute charge will apply to international calls to mobile phones, pagers and other wireless devices for certain countries. This international mobile termination (IMT) fee varies by country and will be added to the cost of the call. An "M" will appear in the call detail portion of your bill indicating which calls terminated to wireless devices. The IMT fee does not apply to regular international calls to non-wireless or landline numbers. Please click here for country specific rates.

Penny talk is 2 cents a minute to the UK, 49 cents to connect. Same connection fee in the US, but 1 cent a minute to call.

Unfortunately that one's unlikely to change in the near future. It's the European mobile phone operators making the charge for accessing their network, not the US service provider.
