Funny, the moment I did the order I had at least 3 people at work saying "you should have used Lowes"

Best Buy are a bag of spanners.

Our landlord got our washing machine from Home Depot...seemed to be okay, but they're a bit shit about sticking to their delivery window.

I reckon sticking to a local appliance store is probably the best thing, and just use the big box stores to browse the stock.

Yes - Best Buy are hopeless for appliances - I was looking for a new washer and drier about a year ago and the sales guy at Best Buy said they could have them delivered in about 5 days - then when he was entering the order 5 days turned into 3 weeks and I walked out.

Went home and ordered the same items from Sears online and had them delivered and installed 2 days later (and, if I had ordered them a few hours earlier I could have had them the next day).

I'm just here to point out that putting
"best buy" rant
into Google generates 5,090,000 hits.

I often get mine from these guys (link below). Monoprice is good, but the cost of shipping can throw the deal if you're only getting one or two.

Change from 5 bucks at this place, inc shipping. If you need a couple, even cheaper.

I'm surprised it's that few. Most Best Buy employees couldn't find their arse with both hands on the best of days.

The USG should put that right on the visa stamp "Stay away from Best Buy."

I loved the letter. Sadly, the point will be lost on Best Buy. Whoever opens it will scratch their head and say, "Huh? Must be a crank letter." They won't get it.

Classic -
Improv Everywhere Mission: Best Buy
The non-humiliating practical jokers group, Improv Everywhere, pulled off an elaborate stunt wherein 80 volunteer agents dressed in royal blue polo shirts and khaki pants strolled into a busy Best Buy store in Manhattan. The actors quietly postitioned themselves throughout the area. That's it.
But, store employees, resplendent in their royal blue polo shirts and khaki pants, were befuddled to say the least. Customers and the police were, too.

Lowes = Good times.

I've always had good experiences with them. Had them do carpet, washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher and fridge delivery and install. The dishwasher was damaged but after talking to them I had that one taken away and another delivered the next day. Other than the dishwasher and carpet it was all free delivery, everything was free haul away and the carpet came in considerably cheaper than any other quotes we got for a similar pad and carpet. We were told they wouldn't install the washer because the policy is if it requires some sort of water pipe then it's a plumbing job but the installers did everything other than turn the water on. I even picked up a $12 sprinkler for 59c and a $15 one for 89c. Both all metal and working very well. I also love the price match, although it is kind of annoying to have to do it.

Never bought anything in Best Buy, but had mixed issues with Lowes. Ordered some timber amongst other stuff for delivery from the store at the far end of town, on a free delivery offer - they mucked up the order but we didn't realise until we got home as we were buying a huge amount of stuff. Phoned up to correct the order and pay the difference as soon as we checked (annoyingly, we'd had a 10% discount that we'd used in the store but they wouldn't honour it over the phone even though it was their mistake).

Delivery day came - only one piece of timber. Husband phoned, got passed round three different departments, someone was supposed to phone back but didn't. Went to the local store the next day, they wouldn't help. Several days went by, I phoned again, got passed round four departments, and was even told by one comedian he was too busy to deal with this right now! At which point I blew a gasket - got hold of the manager. I must have said the right thing, because the timber was delivered two hours later.

Went back there yesterday trying to buy some bulky stuff, but they don't do local truck hire and they wanted $79 to deliver!

Just bought appliances from Sears, there's a few hiccups but I'm hopeful it will get sorted out - issues with electricity supply which was not the fault of the installers.

Now, Comcast, they're a whole new bunch of muppets....I foresee a heated argument coming up with them!!!

COMCAST!!!!... now if your going to use foul language like that on here!
Idiots and a lot of other names that are totally unrepeatable in public describe them very well.. hell they make Best Buy look good. After 5 attempts of joining a cable over a 1 month period we actually had to ask them to leave the property, I mean it was a Really simple job! we called Direct tv, they came out - put up the dish - joined onto 'the cable' and then spent the rest of his time showing us how to work the box.. total time on site 45 mins including tea and buscuits!.. and no problems since.

Comcast are a hateful company. Very difficult to get through to their so-called customer service, rude staff, don't do what they say they're going to do on time, and try to charge for random stuff. Truly awful.

To bring an end to my Best Buy saga, after a bit and back forth e-mail involving me at point saying I was going to bring in the FTC, the Corporate office called. Coming to pickup the old washer tomorrow morning and they're sending me a $100 gift card in the mail.

This does of course mean I need to shop in Best Buy one more time
