Thumbs down Re: Au Pairs in America

In the apartment below ours on our condo in Singapore there was a divorced American man living with his teenage daughter and a Filipino maid. The daughter was about 15 or 16 years old and apparently had severe ADHD (attention deficit disorder). She was spotted one evening swimming naked in the communal swimming pool... Her dad was always away on business trips in the region eg. Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Hong Kong etc. and the maid was usually in sole charge of the teenager.

One Saturday afternoon as I was driving the teenager was standing in the middle of a busy dual carriageway near the condo, dancing and (I think) trying to flag down a taxi. Her behaviour was so erratic that she was sent back to the States to live with her mum.

Needless to say - the maid didn't leave and it was very apparent that the American man and his maid were an 'item'....they were very touchy feely with each other...

You wouldn't believe how many fat, balding and old expat Western males had young ladies from Thailand and the Philippines clutching their arms in South East Asia....it was quite an unappealing sight and pretty obvious that the girls only wanted the men for their money and possibly a passport to a better life in the West (and no, not all of them were prostitutes but I doubt that many of these relationships were a true 'love match').... I guess the guys got something out of it too - even more so these days now that Viagra is so easily available....

To be fair that whilst the Men may go for Phillipines/Thailand/Vietnam and of course Russia.

The Ladies for some reason prefer Morrocco and other North African countries.

Pretty evident when you look on the Immigration boards.

I can see the male perspective, wondered about the female one.

Plus of course luv is not required for marriage or immigration, and has only been seen to be a major factor in Western marriages relatively recently. No doubt the ladies look on it as a an investment, not just for themselves but for their families.

That reminds me of a time I was walking down the streets of Hong Kong and saw this 2-year-old blonde boy with bright blue eyes being held by a ravishingly attractive Chinese woman. I knew she wasn't the mother so I said to myself, 'that better be the second wife because if that is the au pair, there is going to be trouble in the house.'

Don't feel glum, mate. I'm sure if you ask really nicely, your wife will let you have a Turnip or a Beetroot, even if she won't let you have a Swede.

1) I tried Viagara, once. It got stuck in my throat.......I had a stiff neck all day

2) I asked my Doctor "If you prescribed Viagara for me......could I get it over the counter? He replied "You probably could......if you took two of them!"

'Communication has from the start been a problem, and continues to be,' he admits with staggering understatement.
