Girl Scout Cookies for Sale!!
My two little Brownies are selling cookies....location, North Texas ! Willing to ship!!
[Only joking!]
How I love January! I find this a very peculiarly American tradition...training our kids to be door-to-door salespeople!!
...although, thinking about it, as a kid in the UK I did force unsuspecting people to listen to my caterwauling each Christmas, in their own homes, and then demand money...maybe it's not so different!
Anyone else forced to go through this ritual each year?!

This is a new one on me. Not been here long enough! I had a 14 maybe 15 year old boy ring my door bell on Monday asking if I wanted to buy cookie dough..... is this typical??

Yes, here in New Zealand the schoolkids are always involved in some fundraiser. Usually it's flogging Cadbury chocolate bars, 24 to a box at NZ$2.00 a piece. Luckily we have an inordinate amount of kindly granny ladies in the neighbourhood and so selling the stuff isn't difficult. The sausage sizzle is another Kiwi favourite.
But, yeah. I've been in the states and I've had those Girl Scout cookies. I especially like those Savannahs (peanut buttery things if memory serves me). If I were in the Ft Worth area I'd buy more than a couple of boxes. Alas, it's not to be.

Am I scrooge as I have never tasted a girl guide (or whatever the wee darlings are called now ) cookie. In my defense no one has ever come to my door.
Which means my reputation of eating little darlings has got out - good

Both!
Even though I have two little Brownies of my own, I am unable to say no to all the other girls who come around selling them.
I just bought four boxes yesterday. Argh.
At least they freeze.
I am astonished that this isn't as prevalent elsewhere in the US. Its a whole, untapped market of potential cookie-eaters!!!
If a Browie sells over a certain amount, they get things like a free trip to Disneyworld (that's the top prize I think). It can get quite competative.

You would buy a dozen of each if a little brownie
showed up with that pitiful "please buy some cookies, you are
my last hope for disney world"

I am the pitiful person who buys anything of everybody who comes to the door (except proper sales people).
I think the word is out - for the no of ex homeless people selling magazines and artists selling their work seems to have increased a lot recently

The mint ones are quite nice.
Here they have a fund raising thing where they sell the 'World's Greatest Chocolate'. For every bar they sell for $1, they get to keep 50c. It is a great way for kids to get the $$ together for camp or whatever.

That's what I thought too ... but surprisingly, I *think* they are transfat free (well, I think apart from the Samoas) and pretty good on the old ingredients.
I can't remember exactly from last year, but I am a bit of a food fascist and I remember not being completely disgusted by the ingredients of most of them ....faint praise, I know...and they do taste quite good :-)
