Default Atlanta Airport

Hello all.

I am the wife of a regular BritishExpats forum member and enjoy reading posts each day.

I just have a quick question. My husband and I are moving over to the US in a couple of weeks and we are wondering how long it might take us to get through immigration in Atlanta. He's coming with a I-130 visa.

Any comments/experiences on processing time at ATL would be much appreciated--oh, and we know that as an airport in general it sucks,

Thanks so much.

Your best bet for people's experiences entering at a particular POE (point of entry) is to post the message on the US Marriage Based Visas forum.

Came through with my wife(USC) around 8 weeks ago on an I-130 from the London Embassy. we both joined the line for us citizens and perm residents. My wife went up first and explained about me(UKC). The guy was very nice did a few minutes of whatever and gave me green folder to take up to a seperate room. Went in put folder on desk. wait around 5 mins nice INS lady took my folder of desk. Called me up asked me some general questions. then she took my fingerprints and my signature and aftera few more mins of processing she gave me the stamp in my passport and that was it. All very painless took around 20-25 mins tops. My perm residents card arrived about 3 weeks after entry. SSN took 7 weeks and you do need to go to the office to fill in an application the tick box is not enough by the way.

The rest of the airport is shit and the rigmarole with luggage and security was far worse. They confiscated stuff(tiny nail clippers) from my wife that we had just flown over with from london and we were trying to leave the damn airport. Bloody ridiculous and still no one here has a ****ing clue about anti-terrorist security. Its just stupid jobs worth rules and twats with a bit of minor hitler power. I will never use that airport again.

The INS at Atlanta though were fine and i am sure you will have no problems with them.

regards,

Duncan

Cool

Hi Jenny,

Good luck on your move over! Can't wait until its our turn. We're going to Florida (Orlando) for a very much deserved holiday before we head up to Oregon. Hopefully we won't have any problems at that airport. Let me know how you get on.

Jenny:

Atlanta airport can be maddening, even for US citizens. We have a backwards way of doing things here, but then you know that!

My fiancee traveled over last month on a K1 and had no problems going through immigration.

Best of luck to you and your hubby.
