Anyone got a crystal ball?

Anyone got a crystal ball?
What do people reckon? Will the pound recover in the near future or set for a gentle slide towards the dollar?

$1.50-$1.60
If you look at the exchange rates over the past ten years, you'll see a pretty consistent happy medium right around this level. Yes, it shot up to 2:1 for a brief shining moment, but it also went down to $1.35 for a bit.
I think many folks would say $1.50-$1.60 is really what you should consider a good base point for future planning. As it is what, $1.48 or something today it's a bit under that baseline, so adjust accordingly.
FWIW, I try to keep a set amount in both currencies to handle my annual needs, and rarely trade $ when > $1.65 or £ when < $1.50.

My crystal ball indicates that the pound will be at $1.35 by the end of the year and the Euro will be at $1.10. The Euro zone has gone to only a 0.2% gdp annual growth during the first quarter of the year and with the belt tightening in the southern countries, it will likely have problems creating any real growth.

The UK isn't fairing much better in gdp growth and will likely be held back by its trading partners on the continent.

The US is fairing better with 3.2% annual gdp growth in the first quarter.

Although the recession has hit the US harder than Europe with greater gdp losses, the US has recovered much of the gdp losses over the past 3 quarters which should turn into job creation in the next several quarters.
