What happens if, as is the case for the forseeable future, the children are UK citizens and the family in the UK want to contest the will, is a US drafted will legally binding in the UK?

I'm getting into hypotheticals here, but if for example my inlaws wanted the children to return to live with them (we wouldn't want that) could they overturn that from the UK?
I don't know who we would appoint guardian yet, but it wouldn't be them

Probably

Depend on what your US will said.. and who the executor was...
The parents wishes would probably be the most important.

That and the executor is the hardest to find

Remember that, while you can express your wishes with regard to the children in your will and the courts will undoubtedly give considerable weight to those wishes if they appear to be in the best interests of the children, you ultimately can't control what happens with just a will because your children are not "property" and therefore you can't "leave them" to someone.
