Some would say we chose our path based on the factors; others would say we balanced the factors and that forced the decision in the same way that an algebraic problem is forced to a particular solution.

Good point I agree, 'forced' is probably not the best description for my moving here. I don't have any regrets (yet)

Kind of funny though, hubby told me yesterdray that there are job opportunities for him on two seperate bases in the UK (Mildenhall and Lakenheath) He asked me if I wanted him to put in for them, he is tempted to do this, because it would mean us being together as a family much sooner than him sitting in Co, waiting on an opening here in IL. My immediate reaction was to say yes, go for it, but then after thinking about it, I really don't want to leave my oldest Son here and my youngest is totally against it! He is the reason that I moved back to IL, he missed his school/friends etc and hated CO.

So, maybe I am not as 'homesick' as I thought I was, if I told him to go for the jobs in the Uk, it would 'only' be to have him home with me sooner, rather than because I want to be back in the UK.

I miss him every day, but I would hate to end up giving up what we have here and regretting upsetting everyone (again) for a short term solution

I'm sure many people here do have friends here and do share things with them, but then there are people who don't or who would rather not going into criticising things with their neighbours and friends, so again what is wrong with them ranting on a forum which at the end of the day isn't really harming anyone and is only pixels on a screen...you getting into such a froth about it is just raising your blood pressure over nothing.

Like they will have to get to know you, you will have to get to know them and understand who you can joke with and who you cannot. One of my brother-in-laws has known me for 15 years and I can still say the most outrageous exagerations to him and he takes it all in.
Well said, very well said.
